The four paramedic programs of the Maricopa County Community Colleges are individually accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Accredited programs track and report outcome measures annually to the Committee on Accreditation for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
The most current CoAEMSP Annual Report was for the calendar year 2024.

Enroll as a student at a Maricopa Community College at your college of choice. You must enroll at one of the Maricopa County Community Colleges that offers an accredited Paramedicine program:
You are required to pass a 150-question multiple-choice computer-based Paramedicine entrance examination.

The Testing Center will schedule you for the computer-based Paramedicine entrance examination.
Once you pass the computer-based Paramedicine entrance examination, you must complete and submit the Paramedicine Program application. This application process takes approximately 40 minutes to complete.
Once you complete and submit the Paramedicine application, you will be contacted by the Paramedicine program you chose on the application for an oral interview. The oral interview helps the Paramedicine management team determine your eligibility for the program.
The oral interview is often conducted 60 to 90 days prior to the start of the Paramedicine program. The oral interview panel is typically composed of Paramedicine program faculty, the Program Director, and the Medical Director. They will ask you questions and score your responses. The oral interview is approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
Once you complete the application process and attend the oral interview, the program will determine your status as a Paramedicine student. If you are notified that you are conditionally accepted into the Paramedicine program, you must submit to a criminal background check.
You are responsible for purchasing the background check—the estimated cost to you is $75.00.
If you do not pass the initial criminal background check, you can appeal the findings. If your appeal is unsuccessful, your Paramedicine student selection process is ended.
Once you pass the criminal background check, you will be notified that you have been accepted into the Paramedicine program.
A document tracker program is used to submit health and safety documents required by the program and Maricopa Community Colleges. Health and safety documents include vaccination records, 2-step tuberculosis screening, annual influenza vaccination, and annual physical examination verification. You are required to purchase the document tracker program and begin uploading the required documents. The estimated cost to you is $25.00.
If you do not have one or more of the required documents, you are required to obtain them at your cost.
You are subject to random urine drug screening which may be conducted onsite or offsite at the discretion of the Program Director. The estimated cost to you is $70.00.

You are required to attend a student orientation typically conducted 30 days prior to the start of the Paramedicine program. You will be contacted by the program regarding the date and time of this event.
You are required to register for specific courses in the first term (block) of the Paramedicine program. Registration for these courses is usually 30 days prior to the start of the program. The program will provide information regarding these courses and registration.
Enroll as a student at a Maricopa Community College at your college of choice. You must enroll at one of the Maricopa County Community Colleges that offers an accredited Paramedicine program:

Once you complete the application process, your sponsoring agency representative must provide a letter of eligibility to the Paramedicine Program Director that attests to your successful completion of a validated selection process. This letter must attest to your successful completion of both an EMT general knowledge entrance exam and oral panel interview. You must have successfully completed this process and must be currently eligible to be sponsored by your employer to attend a paramedicine program.
Only current participating regional employers are eligible to participate in this abbreviated process for Maricopa Community College Paramedicine programs.
Once the Paramedicine Program Director receives your letter of eligibility from the sponsoring agency, you will be notified that you have been conditionally accepted into the program.
Once you complete the application process and submitted your employer has submitted the letter of eligibility, the program will determine your status as a Paramedicine student. If you are notified that you are conditionally accepted into the Paramedicine program, you must submit to a criminal background check.

Once the Paramedicine Program Director receives the completed letter of affidavit from the sponsoring agency, you will be notified that you have been accepted into the Paramedicine program.
