Objective

Kelly Sukkha is a passionate advocate for student success, access, and belonging across the Maricopa Community Colleges System. She is committed to ensuring every student has a voice in the decisions that shape their educational experience. Ms. Sukkha is dedicated to expanding access to mental health and wellness resources, strengthening student support services, increasing awareness of basic needs programs, and promoting affordability through greater access to scholarships, emergency assistance, and other student resources. She is committed to fostering meaningful student leadership opportunities, encouraging collaboration across all colleges, and ensuring that students from every background, including first-generation students, former foster youth, adult learners and non traditional students, feel hear, supported and empowered to succeed. Drawing from her lived experience and leadership at the campus, state, and national levels, Ms. Sukkha is committed to advancing initiatives that remove barriers to higher education, strengthen student engagement, and create lasting opportunities for current and future generations of Maricopa student.

About

Ms. Sukkha is currently pursuing an Associate of Arts in Psychology at Rio Solado College and plans to continue her education at Arizona State University. She is hoping to become a Clinical Psychologist and eventually a Neuropsychologist. She also serves as President of the Alpha Theta Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Previously, she served as Arizona Regional President for Phi Theta Kappa, representing and leading the state while collaborating with student leaders across Arizona and representing the region at the national level through initiatives focused on leadership, service, civic engagement, and student success.

A dedicated servant leader, Ms. Sukkha has volunteered hundreds of hours in support of local and international communities. She serves as a foster mentor, supporting youth as they navigate the foster care system, and is a Certified Recovery Support Specialist with specialized training in trauma-informed support. Her volunteer service includes food insecurity initiatives, literacy programs, clothing and hygiene drives, and volunteering at an orphanage in Thailand. Her commitment to servant leadership has been recognized through the Chancellor's Civic Leadership Medallion.

Professionally, Ms. Sukkha brings more than a decade of experience in healthcare as a Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Laser Technician, Laser Safety Officer, and Patient Care Coordinator. Her background in patient advocacy, clinical care, leadership, and healthcare operations has shaped her passion for serving others and building stronger communities.

Originally from Medellín, Colombia, Ms. Sukkha's journey as a former foster youth and orphan has inspired a lifelong commitment to advocacy, resilience, and creating opportunities for others. She is honored to represent the diverse voices and experiences of Maricopa students and is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered community.
